When I started to think about getting involved with Get Age Fit and how it could benefit my health, I really had no idea the journey that I would be starting. Being a business owner of a boutique in Salado and also a part time RN I have a really busy life, not to mention taking care of my home and family! I had come to a point in my life where I knew I needed to do something to feel better each day so I could accomplish the things I needed to. I desperately wanted to lose weight, change my eating habits and exercise but was not sure how I could accomplish all of it. After attending one of Theo’s meetings and reading the testimonies from the people in the book Body for Life, it all just seemed too good to be true, yet I felt such a trust with Theo and the team he has with him I wanted to begin the journey and see where it would take me. I made the decision to commit to the program and see if I could accomplish anything close to what the people in the book had.
The encouragement from the very beginning was exactly what I needed because the weight did not come off very fast which would be very discouraging for me and still continues to be some weeks, but I am learning to get past that. The changes I have seen in my body, my strength and my determination have gotten me to look beyond what a scale may say each week. I can see myself going to a place body wise that I never thought could be possible. Seeing the scale at a certain weight and continuing to go up over the years and seeing myself look a certain way for so long I had begun to think the possibility of changing was not attainable especially as I have gotten older and knowing what I “thought” I knew about aging and fitness.
The staff at Get Age Fit just kept telling me, “trust the process” and so I did. Over the last 3 months I have lost weight, lost body fat and increased muscle. The gains I have achieved go beyond those of standing on a scale each week. I feel better physically AND emotionally and have been able to get myself off a medication that I have been on for over 10 years which I never thought would have been possible. I now look at my time at the gym as my medication and through feeling empowered physically I have been able to manage my emotional wellbeing with more confidence. I feel positive that by keeping health as a priority, I will be able to stay off this medication for good. Revamping my diet has not only helped me but also my family. My husband has been more conscience of eating clean and my parents both have jumped on board as well.
Kelly, my trainer, has become someone I trust and respect for his knowledge of health and fitness and how I can incorporate fitness into my busy life and keep it fresh. I continue to learn from him and my goal would be that when I decide to leave Get Age Fit and go out on my own that I would feel confident at a gym and know what to do to keep my fitness lifestyle in check. I’m not quite ready to go out on my own yet and have decided to continue with another 12 week challenge with excitement even though it is a lot of hard work and dedication because I see what I can achieve. I have many goals in the gym now and will continue to trust the process weekly.
Seeing the same people at the gym most of the time has created a special bond, mostly unspoken, but knowing the work we all put in at the gym I respect them and know how hard it can be.
I’m thankful that I took the step to better health and am grateful for the staff at Get Age Fit and for all of the help and support.
Looking forward to furthering my transformation,
