Before I started the Transformation Challenge I felt like I was in pretty good shape but my “before” pictures told me otherwise. I guess we get so used to making excuses and seeing what we want to see that we ignore what is obvious. Even though I have always worked out, I wasn’t necessarily working out the right way or eating the way I should. We get so caught up in our day to day lives that sometimes we forget that we need to take care of ourselves.
I have driven past Get Age Fit for 2 years and thought multiple times about going in but I never did because I always told myself that I should be able to get fit and healthy on my own without having to pay someone for help but fact is, I did need the help. What I needed most was the structure of having set appointments and someone that I check in with every week that helps keep me on track because you think you’ll do it on your own but then the days go by so quickly and you realize that it’s been a whole week since you’ve even been to the gym. I’m a single parent of a 12 year old son and I’m always busy doing something so it’s easy to keep putting off my workout, but if I have a set time to meet with a trainer then I schedule it into my day like everything else. In theory I should put a workout on my calendar even without a trainer and I do, but it’s too easy to cancel on yourself.
I participated in the 12 week challenge and started to see a change within the first month. By the end of the 2nd month I felt leaner and just overall healthier because I was working out on a regular basis and I was eating healthier. I still have a ways to go to meet my goals but these 12 weeks have given me the jump start that I really needed.
If there was anything I would have done differently it would have been to post daily onto our Get Age Fit Transformation FB page to hold myself accountable to make sure I’m eating healthy, getting in my daily workout, and most importantly my weekly rest and cheat day! This has been a great start and I plan to keep working until I reach my goals and then keep working to maintain them.
